There is a Polish War Cemetery in the Italian town of Casamassima. It contains more than 400 graves. Participants in the battles of the Gustav Line on the Sangro River are buried there, as well as soldiers who were wounded at Monte Cassino and died in the hospitals of Bari and Naples. Henryk Sucharski, defender of Westerplatte, also rests there.
