At 1200 Via Cassia in Rome, there is the Polish House of John Paul II. It is a gift to the Pope, purchased by the Polish Polish community in 1981. The House is intended to serve pilgrims coming to Rome. The House also houses the Centre for the Documentation and Study of the Pontificate of John Paul II. The centre's collections include the Order of the White Eagle conferred in 1993 on John Paul II (1920-2005), by Lech Wałęsa, and drawings by Feliks Topolski.
