In the small Italian town of San Gimignano, there is a plaque commemorating Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz. It contains the wrong date of the poet's death - instead of 1980, it is engraved 1976. During his travels in Italy, Iwaszkiewicz spent time in San Gimignano, among other places. His recollections of that time were included in the book "Travels to Italy", published in 1980.
