Altar and reliquary of Clemens Maria Hofbauer in the Maria am Gestade church in Vienna

In the Maria am Gestade church in Vienna is the altar and reliquary of Clement Maria Hofbauer (1751-1820), a Catholic clergyman who ministered in both Austria and Poland. In 1787 he arrived in Warsaw, where the Redemptorists, to whom he belonged, founded a boarding school for young girls. He dedicated his entire life to pastoral service, repeatedly supporting the poor and those from low social strata and caring for orphans. For his dedicated service to people, Klemens Maria Hofbauer was declared a saint and awarded the Order of the White Eagle.
