The book, published in co-edition with Ruthenus publishing house, is a story about a Hutsul village located today in Ukraine.

Before the Second World War, Rafajłowa was part of the Second Polish Republic, Stanislavl Province, Nadwórnia District. Rafajłowa - now Bystrycia - developed at the end of the 19th century as a forest lumber settlement and tourist settlement. The inhabitants of the village were Ruthenians, Poles, Jews and Austrians. An Orthodox church of the Greek rite was built there in 1897 and a Roman Catholic branch chapel in 1910. At the beginning of the First World War, the village witnessed the battles of the Polish Legions. During the Second Polish Republic the village developed as a popular summer and winter resort, a base for lovers of mountain tourism.

Jan Skłodowski's book contains rich archival material and contemporary photographs.
