Tomb of Leon Stempowski and other Polish soldiers at Montmartre Cemetery in Paris

The grave of Leon Stempowski and other Polish soldiers in the Montmartre Cemetery in Paris (cemetery section 17). Leon Stempowski (1794-1855) was a marshal of the Uszyce district and a participant in the November Uprising in Podolia. In exile, he was a member of the committee of the Confederation of the Polish Nation and co-founder of the Polish mass graves in Paris. He died in Paris on 25th March 1855. He was originally buried in the cemetery at Batignolles. In 1856, the coffin was moved to Montmartre Cemetery.
