Adam Mickiewicz Polish School in Paris

The Adam Mickiewicz Polish School operates under the patronage of the Polish Embassy in Paris. It was founded in 1842 on the initiative of General Józef Dwernicki and other participants in the Great Emigration that followed the fall of the November Uprising. In the 1850s, Adam Mickiewicz, the current patron of the institution, was a member of the school council and his sons were pupils. A significant contribution to the development of the institution was made by Seweryn Gałęzowski, a doctor, social activist and professor, who served as principal for many years. The school changed its location several times. Initially it was located near Paris in Chatillon-sous-Bagneux, then in the Latin Quarter in Paris, and since 1874 it has been located at 13/15 rue Lamande. The school still functions today, providing education to Polish children abroad
