Historical outline
According to sources, the first chapel was probably built here already before the 17th century. However, it is impossible to determine the exact date. What is known for sure is that its next, this time brick, incarnation was completed in 1636 through the efforts of the Buchach rector, priest Waclaw Sapalski, called Sapelius. Funds came from donations from the local population and a grant from Christopher Sapalski-Sapelius, a professor at the Zamojska Academy. The chapel, also interchangeably referred to as a 'church' or 'temple' in historical sources, was surrounded by such great attentions and care, as it housed a precious image of the Virgin of Loretto surrounded by significant veneration.

In 1722, an inventory was drawn up which indicated that the building was richly furnished. In addition to the altar with the precious painting, the chapel contained two larger altars of Christ Crucified and St Catherine and a smaller, portable one. Unfortunately, the church was robbed in 1736. According to sources, however, this was not a looting that significantly affected the functioning of the building. An inventory from the 1740s also notes the rich furnishings. The information from it not only shows as many as three bells on the premises, but also mentions three new paintings. The largest one depicted the scene of the Annunciation. Smaller images of St John of Nepomuk and St Sebastian.

The Josephine era brought the secularisation of the chapel. Probably as a natural consequence, the building was sold to the local Greek-Catholic community in 1801. After renovation, in 1804, it was converted into the Uniate Church of the Pokrovna Most Holy Mother of God. Chronicles note the destruction during World War I. After World War II, the church was taken over by Orthodox Christians. In the 1990s, a renovation was carried out, which somewhat disrupted the original character of the building, where, among other things, the gunposts in the tower were bricked up.

Architecture
The building is located in the western part of Mosciska, near the roads leading to Przemyśl and Sambor. It consists of a three-bay nave and a short, one-bay chancel closed with three sides of a hexagon. A vestry, rectangular in plan, is located next to the altar part. It is oriented (i.e. oriented towards the symbolic east, by implication Jerusalem), built of brick and plastered. The nave is preceded by a tower, which serves as a porch in the lower storey. The upper part formerly most likely served as a music choir.

In his study of the building, Marek Walczak describes the structure as simple and lacking architectural detail. He also compares it to other examples in the area, suggesting that there was most likely a local building workshop that had a particular routine in carrying out this type of project.

The interior of the chapel was composed without clear divisions. Apart from the embattled recesses in the eastern walls and such natural elements as the slightly lower and narrower chancel, the space inside is uniform. The rainbow arcade has a semicircular design. Cross-ribbed vaults are used over the nave and chancel. The windows in the building are rectangular and closed with a semicircle and are embayed on both sides.

The exterior of the façade also has no divisions. The building (except for the tower) is surrounded by a profiled cornice. The nave and chancel have gable roofs. There is a multi-pitched roof over the apse and a triple-pitched roof over the vestry. A tent roof is used on the tower. All are covered with sheet metal.
