Trześniewski - sandwich bar chain

Vienna - unspeakably good!
When visiting the beautiful Austrian capital, every now and then we come across Polish monuments, i.e. traces of our shared centuries-long history. One of them, however, is worth special attention. We can not only look at it (and there is much to look at), but also touch it, taste it and even smell it. Let us be sure, however, that we will not hear its name in full - the TRZEŚNIEWSKI sandwich buffet, of course.

TRZEŚNIEWSKI sandwich buffet
This chain of bars serving sandwiches and something to sip on was founded by Franciszek Trześniewski, who came to Vienna from Kraków at the turn of the 20th century. In 1902, in a city famous for its café traditions, he opened a buffet with sandwiches, which he served to his guests standing up and at a good price. His idea of satisfying a passer-by's hunger quickly and cheaply survived the Habsburg Empire, subsequent wars, the Iron Curtain and grew into a chain proudly bearing the name 'Trześniewski'.

In a country where no one can pronounce the name, the company has made it its trademark, advertising itself "Trześniewski - unspeakably good". Remember: Trześniewski - Dorotheergasse.

However, if you forget the street name, passers-by will still easily lead you to the Trześniewski bar. In fact, according to a survey, 92 per cent of Viennese people associate the name Tversniewski with it!
