Aleksander Stankiewicz (1824-1892), born in Warsaw, was a painter. He began to study drawing in 1934 under Jan Feliks Piwarski at the Gubernial Gymnasium in Warsaw. From 1835, he also studied at the private painting school of Aleksander Kokular and under Franciszek Lampi. From 1840, he participated in the Warsaw Fine Arts Exhibitions. Between 1844 and 1846, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in St Petersburg under A. T. Markov and Briullow. In 1846, he went to Rome on a government scholarship. He painted portraits, religious compositions and genre scenes.
