Karol Paszkowski (1872-1940), honorary consul of the Republic of Poland in Florence, son of a participant in the January Uprising, who settled in Florence. There he founded the historic Paszkowski Brewery, which in time became a café: Caffè Concerto Paszkowski. The café was a meeting place for Poles, political and social discussions. The place was visited by, among others: Jan Kasprowicz, Władysław Stanisław Reymont, Karol Szymanowski, Leopold Staff and Stefan Żeromski.
