Biography:

Tadeusz Hilarowicz (1887-1958), Polish lawyer, professor of administrative law, university lecturer, social and political activist. In 1910, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Lvov. He also studied in Berlin and Paris. Between 1918 and 1939, he lectured at universities in Warsaw, Łódź, Kraków and Lublin. Vice-president of the Polish Institute of Administration at the Association of State Officials, chairman of the Yugoslav Friendship Association and president of the Polish-Yugoslav Scientific Society. During World War II, he gave secret lectures at the SGGW. After the war, he was one of the organisers of the Higher School of Administrative Sciences in Łódź, of which he became the first rector (1945-1947). Head of the Administrative Department of the Provincial SD Committee in Łódź, in the years 1949-1954, he was also a member of the Party's General Council. Decorated with, among others, the Golden Cross of Merit, the 10th Anniversary of the People's Republic of Poland Medal, and the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
