The church was founded by Stefan Potrocki and Maria Mohylanka. According to Peter Krasny, Ottaviano Mancini, who worked in Kiev and may have been involved by the Potrocki family through his links with Metropolitan Peter Mogilev, may have had a hand in designing the church. It was built in the first half of the 17th century. In the 1880s, the church tower was added. In 1934, the church suffered a fire, but already a year earlier its condition was described as bad. In 1954, the church was converted into a cinema, at which time its tower was demolished. The original furnishings included side altars with sculptures in the style of Lvov rococo sculpture, according to Thomas Zauch by Sebastian Fesinger. The founder of the church, Stefan Potocki, was buried in the church crypt.
