Multi-faith cemetery "Old" in Humań

The Catholic cemetery in Humań lies about 1.5 kilometres north-west of the parish church. It is part of a larger necropolis. Zbigniew Hauser described its condition in 2001 as very bad. The headstones had been heavily vandalised and the graves looted. Many monuments to the nobility and intelligentsia erected in the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century had been broken up. Zbigniew Hauser listed 75 gravestones with Polish inscriptions in 2001, 12 were no longer found.

As the largest object, the author listed the tomb of seven members of the Krasicki family, unfortunately disturbed by an undermining. It bears the signature of the stone workshop of Jan Culek from Kishinev. There are relatively many signed tombstones preserved in the cemetery. Hauser mentions Jan Rudnicki from Warsaw (1), Traichel from Humania (2), Frantisek Slama from Humania (6), who was buried here and whose tombstone bears an inscription in Czech.

Mostly granite and marble gravestones of various colours have been preserved, among which the form of a pedestal without a cross predominates, but there are also gravestones in the shape of an irregularly hewn block, rocks, a knotty tree, an obelisk and a gravestone. Some monuments feature ornaments. One of the most interesting in this respect is the magnificent tombstone of Faustyna Podhorska from the 1850s, decorated with an acroterion and abandoned 'torches of life' and garlands of poppies. Several gravestones have elaborate inscriptions, also a few are unnamed.

The cemetery contains the tombstone of a January insurgent, doctor of philosophy and professor at the Agricultural Academy of Żabikowo and Dublany, Szczesny Kudelka, who died in 1916.

In 2009, an inventory of identified surviving gravestones was made again https://genealodzy.pl/PNphpBB2-printview-t-54550-start-0.phtml .

In 2020, the Humania City Council was court-ordered to take measures to secure the Polish Catholic cemetery https://kuriergalicyjski.com/mozna-uratowac-polskie-cmentarze-na-ukrainie/ .

Documentation was made for the cemetery (7 cards, stored in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage). Information about the cemetery published (see bibliography).
