Buildings designed by Jan Górecki in Caracas

A native of St Petersburg, Polish graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology (1939), Jan Górecki is the designer of some 600 buildings in Venezuela, most of them in Caracas, especially in the Chacao district. A plaque dedicated to the architect and his collaborating engineer Samuel Zabner was unveiled on one of them, Edificio El Alba, a building recognised by the Cultural Heritage Institute of the City of Caracas as a site of cultural significance in 2021. Another important building designed by Jan Górecki in collaboration with engineer Samuel Zabner is Los Llanos. Built in 1956, it is a distinctive building with a glazed lower section at first floor level with a seven-storey upper section set back from the street with a dynamic juxtaposition of balconies and c sills in a distinctive red colour scheme. His other works in Venezuela include the casa Esquivar in Caribe (1954), the Tiuna building on Avenida Roosevelt in Caracas, the Unión building in Las Acacias, the Londres building in La Paz and the Divenca Mattresses factory in Valencia.
