Paintings in the Chapel of the Guardian Angels in St Joseph's Church on the Kahlenberg in Vienna

Variants of the name:
Malowidła w kaplicy Sobieskiego w kościele pw. św. Józefa na Kahlenbergu w Wiedniu

The idea of erecting the so-called Sobieski Chapel was born with the project to rebuild St Joseph's Church on Kahlenbeg in 1906. The author of the chapel's painting design was Jozef Mehoffer. Work was interrupted by the outbreak of the First World War. The original plans were resumed in the 1920s, and the wall paintings were executed by Jan Henryk Rosen. The eastern wall depicts an image of Innocent XI, the western wall a Polish knight and saints: Joseph, Leopold and John Capistrano. The northern wall features a scene of the Mass with Charles V of Lorraine and John III. The chapels were consecrated on 28 May 1931.
