Cemetery in Gaucia

The active rural Catholic cemetery, established in the 2nd half of the 19th century, is located approximately 40m east of the local main road. The rectangular-plan cemetery, situated on a slight hill, covers an area of 0.2 ha and is enclosed by a stone rampart, with two entrances on the west side. A path runs through the cemetery, dividing the establishment into two parts. Gravestones from the 1st half of the 20th century predominate. The oldest gravestone, located in the southern part of the cemetery - the gravestone of Elżbieta Jancewiczowa from 1894, has the form of a small vertical tombstone with an engraved inscription: / HERE RESTS ELIZABETH/ WIFE/ JANCEWICZOWA LIVED (...) 1894/. In the northern part of the cemetery there is a large granite obelisk commemorating the soldiers killed during the First World War.
Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography).
