Biography:

Krystyna Wojtyna-Drouet (1926), born in Warsaw. Graduate of the atelier of Professor Eleonora Plutyńska (hand weaving) and Professor Mieczysław Szymański (tapestry) at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. At the same academy she also studied painting, with Marek Włodarski. One of the representatives of the so-called Polish School of Artistic Tapestry. She took part in the First, Fourth and Fifth International Biennial of Artistic Textile in Lausanne. She has had many exhibitions all over the world. She has participated in the most important fibre art reviews. The artist has mastered many weaving techniques, including jacquard, and has extensive knowledge in the field of hand-dyeing materials using natural ingredients, such as cochineal and marzanna dye. Krystyna Wojtyna-Drouet is still an active professional artist.
