Biography:

Stanisław Szukalski (1893-1987), born in Warta, son of Dyonise and Konstancja, née Sadowski, sculptor, painter, draughtsman, designer and theoretician, leader of the Rogate Heart Scion. From childhood he was interested in creation and made sculptures. In 1903, his family emigrated to the United States of America. As a thirteen-year-old, he began attending the Art Institute of Chicago. His talent was recognised. His father decided to send him to study in Krakow. He was taught by, among others, Konstanty Laszcza and Jacek Malczewski. In 1913, he returned to the States. In 1923, he married the artist Helena Walker. He created a lot at that time; it was a very good time for his art. In the 1920s, he travelled extensively in Europe and had exhibitions both in Poland and, among others, in Paris. In 1929, he organised the Szczep Szukalszczyk Herbu Rogate Serce in Kraków, and started his journalistic activity (he wrote in the author's magazine "Krak"). In 1939, he returned to the States. He did not do well. Since then he has been busy solving all sorts of mysteries of the world, such as the origin of languages, customs and faiths. He published these in the extensive work Protong.
