Jan Berdyszak (1934-2014), born in Zawory, sculptor, painter, graphic artist, author of installations, stage designer, educator, art theoretician. Between 1952 and 1958, he obtained a degree in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, after which he began working there in 1965. In 1984-1987, he was the vice-chancellor of this university. He was also involved in stage design at the Marcinek Theatre and Theatre 5 (1961-1981).
