"... However, the crimes of the Bandera were getting crueler. On Christmas Eve in 1944, my uncle Antoni Rola and his friend Kwiatek were returning from duty on the railway to their families in Puźniki. Between Barysh and Puzniki they were attacked by bandits. Kwiatek had a gun, but he failed to defend himself and they were killed. Stryjenka together with her sons: Mieczyslaw and Kazimierz waited for Antoni on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, but he did not return. Word came from Barysh that they had been murdered [1]. My uncle's elder son Mieczysław, who had been in the partisans, together with his friends went to collect his body and that of Kwiatek. From Puzniki a lot of people were in the partisans and the commander was Niedźwiecki from Monasterzysk. ..."

[1] According to information provided by Stanislaw Baraniecki from Stanisława Poterałowicz, Kwiatek and Rola were not found until 2 January 1945 by Szczepan Poterałowicz in the forest near Gutyszyn (Barysh district).
