Bohdan Garlinski - Polish lieutenant, artist, architect, author of the publication "Polen und die Schweiz. Ihre Beziehungen im Laufe der Jahrhunderte und während des zweiten Weltkrieges" (Solothurn 1945) and the popular book "Architektura polska 1950-1951" (Warsaw 1955).

During World War II, as a second lieutenant of the 2nd Infantry Rifle Division, he was interned in Switzerland. Garliński was the creator of numerous designs for the division's badges, including the most recognisable symbol of the 2nd DSP - an eagle sitting on a shield of amazons. This design was mass reproduced in various sizes and used on the caps of division representatives and on commemorative plaques. Examples of his castings can be found in the chapels at Enges and Zuchwil.

Garlinski also designed commemorative internment badges for members of the 2nd DSP. One depicted an eagle resting on three flags of the allied armies in 1940. - Polish, French and Swiss - and on three bayonets. This design followed in the tradition of the Dabrowski Legions and was made by the Swiss firm Huguenin Frères in Le Locle or the French firm Arthus Bertrand in Paris. Another design was a cross with the proportions of the national emblem of the Swiss Confederation.

After the war, Garliński returned to Poland, where he served as chairman of the Coordination Committee of the Warsaw Design Offices, effectively implementing the ideological priorities of Socialist Realist exhibitionism. He was also a commissioner of the first general exhibition of the architecture of the People's Republic of Poland, held at Zachęta in 1953.
