Biography:

Bonawentura Niemojowski (1787-1835), born in Słupia, son of Feliks Niemojowski and Aniela née Walknowskic, politician, lawyer, publicist and parliamentary opposition activist. He was one of the leaders of the Kaliszans, a group of liberal MPs from the Kingdom of Poland who fought for the observance of the Constitution and the introduction of reforms. As an MP, he opposed anti-constitutional government projects and fought for openness of the Sejm proceedings. In 1831, he served as President of the National Government during the November Uprising, arguing against capitulation.

After the fall of the uprising, he went into exile, where he lived initially in Paris and later in Brussels. He was sentenced to death by the Russian authorities for his participation in the uprising. He was the author of political works, including L'autocrate et la constitution du royaume de Pologne (1833) and numerous articles. He died in exile and was buried in the Père-Lachaise cemetery. He was married to Wiktoria Lubowidzka and had two children: Felicia and Casimir.
