Between September and November 1915. The 4th pp of the Polish Legions fought battles against the Russian army here. At first, the fallen Polish soldiers were buried in various places. In 1922, these graves were consolidated and a single cemetery was established. The necropolis was renovated in 1930 by the War Graves Department. It was then fenced with a concrete fence, a brick chapel was built and crosses and reinforced concrete borders were placed on the graves.

After the Second World War, when the village of Košice ceased to exist (the Poles were murdered by the Germans), the cemetery fell into oblivion; by the 1990s it was almost non-existent - only the hills that are the traces of the graves and the pit left by the demolished chapel remain. In 2003. The Council for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom Sites led to the restoration of this cemetery. The area was cleared, debris and rubbish were removed, 50 graves with concrete crosses painted white were marked out and set up, a fence of split basalt stones was made, a cross was set up in the place of the chapel, a central alley was made and the area around the cemetery was cleaned up. The work was carried out by scouts from the ZHP troop in Zgierz. The cemetery covers an area of 23 x 28 m.

In the following years, the cemetery was under the constant care of scouts. Since 2017, this care has been financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage within the framework of the Minister's Programme "Sites of National Remembrance Abroad".
