Dmitry George Wiśniowiecki (1631-1682), born in Wiśniowiec, son of Janusz Wiśniowiecki and Katarzyna, née Tyszkiewicza, prince, voivode of Kraków and Bełsk, grand hetman of the crown. Growing up under the tutelage of the famous commander of the crown army, Jeremi Wiśniowiecki, he took part, among other things, in the defence of Zbaraż and in the Battle of Beresteczko. He was one of the richest magnates in the 17th-century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. As hetman (first field hetman, then grand crown hetman) he commanded in numerous battles against the Tatars and the Ottoman Empire.
