Musée des Années Trente (Espace Landowski) à Boulogne-Billancourt

Paul Landowski (1875-1961) was a French sculptor of Polish origin (his father fought in the January Uprising). He is the author of, among other things, the sculpture of St. Genevieve, the patron saint of Paris, at the Pont de la Tournelle. His best-known work is the monumental sculpture of Christ in Rio de Janeiro. Numerous of his works, once exhibited at the Musée-Jardin Paul Landowski in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris, with which the artist made his fortune, can be seen since 2017 at the Museum of the Thirties in the Espace Landowski, a cultural centre named after the artist.

The collection of Landowski's works at Espace Landowski is the largest collection of the artist's works in the world. Among the objects on display, visitors can admire his most important realisations, including: preparatory studies for a monumental realisation the artist worked on all his life, entitled 'The Temple of Man'; a stone design for a statue of St Genovese; and bozettes for numerous monuments throughout France. The exhibition shows the artist's broad spectrum of inspiration from oriental ancient art through 19th-century symbolism to 20th-century decorative art.
