Additional information:

"Parysówna came from a dignified and highly scolded family. Her ancestors, old Mazovian noblemen of the Prawdzic coat of arms, from the 16th century performed the duties of starosts, castellans, voivodes, senators, deputies, chamberlains, chamberlain and very often defenders of the homeland. Over the centuries, the family branched out (variations of the surname: Paris, Pariss, Paryss, Parysz, Parisz and various variants of the Prawdzic coat of arms). The maiden name of interest, Emilia Łucja Parys , was born on 22 June 1792 in Sandomierskie (quoting from her civil marriage certificate: "Kobylanski , palatinat de Sandomierz"). She was the daughter of Kajetan Parys, a colonel in the French and Saxon armies, and Euphrosinia, née Malczewska. Her parents provided her with a thorough education, and providence provided her with an equally glorious beauty. However, feminine beauty is nothing special in Poland, while Miss Parys possessed a flaw that disqualified her in the eyes of bachelors - she was poor, as the Paryss had lost the bulk of their estates[...] - the first best man at her wedding was Prince Józef Poniatowski."

"....hrabianka Emila Lucja Parys ... and Napoleonic general, Louis Charles Antoine Alexis Morand . ....they met at a ball given by the Duke of Warsaw, Frederick Augustus, in December 1807. The general was a thirty-six-year-old man, Napoleon's favourite because of his uncommon military qualities, an influential and very wealthy man. Just over fifteen years old, Emilia was considered one of the three greatest beauties of the Duchy of Warsaw, but with no chance of marriage due to lack of wealth. Morand, impressed by her beauty, when he wanted to find out who the person was who had made a dazzling impression on him, was dismissively explained: "Ah this one? She's just such a Miss Paris...". When the general proposed at the beginning of January and was accepted, "all the relatives and relations who had not wanted to know this maiden in the past came running to her with expressions of tenderness and affection". After her marriage, Paris settled in Paris, while her husband fought alongside the Emperor. There she gave birth to "five boys, not to mention daughters". After the fall of Napoleon, Morand had to flee France from the terror of the Bourbons . He found asylum in his wife's homeland in the estate of Kawenczyn near Jędrzejów. They lived here in 1818-19 leading a quiet life as landowners. After the general's pardon, they returned to France. In unknown circumstances, their fate rubbed off on Pińczów. On 19 March 1818, at nine o'clock in the evening, 'Wanda, aged two, Daughter of J W Ludwik Morand Count, former General of the French Army, Heir to the Kawenczyn Estate, in the Jędrzeiowski District, and Emilia, née Parys, died in Pińczów, in the house at Number Three Hundred and Seventy-four'. A child's gravestone with an epitaph in French survives to this day".

Emili's father, Kajetan hr. Parys , was born in Pacanów on 1 March 1763. He entered military service as a cadet in the 1st Infantry Regiment of the Great Lithuanian Bulge. There he was a non-commissioned officer in 1781-1782 and then an ensign in 1782-1788. In 1789, he joined General Jerlicz's national cavalry brigade as a lieutenant. In the same brigade he received a patent for major of cavalry on 11 September 1789. During the 1794 Uprising, he was appointed colonel of cavalry by Kościuszko on 8 May. He fought in the uprising and after its fall did not serve in the military. He returned to service in the Polish Army in 1807. On the orders of General Dąbrowski he was appointed major and sent to Płock, where, as colonel en second, he was stationed for two months in Dobrzyń as commander of the forming 14th infantry regiment. After the merger of the two infantry regiments, 13 and 14, into one regiment of the 4th 1st Legion of Warsaw, he was at the disposal of the Ministry of War. On April 8th 1808 he was directed by the Minister of War, Prince Poniatowski to serve as a staff major under Major General Morand .General Morand at the beginning of 1809 proposed his future father-in-law for the award of the Military Cross, but the Minister of War decided that Major Kajetan Parys had no merit to receive the award, which in turn led to Parys's efforts to obtain and present to the Minister evidence of his military service ( http://radwan.org.pl/ ).
