Graves of Poles from World War II in the Westerhüsen cemetery

The Magdeburg cemetery located in the Westerhüsen district contains the graves of forced labourers, prisoners of war and prisoners of war from the Second World War. Between August 1941 and June 1945, around 800 people of various nationalities were buried here. For many of those buried, their personal details and country of origin are unknown. Only the names of 151 Poles have been established.

In 2020-2021, the Polish-German Reconciliation Foundation, as part of a task supported by the Ministerial Programme "Sites of National Remembrance Abroad", compiled data on those buried and made it available, together with a description of the cemetery, on the website of the project "Polish Memorials and War Graves in Germany":https://polskiegroby.pl/cmentarz.php?jez=pl&cmentarzok=799&miejsceok=179&landok=14
