Biography:

Halina Cieslinska-Brzeska (1923-2004), born in Augustow, stained-glass artist, painter and cultural animator. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, graduating in 1953. She was a founder of the "Zachęta" group (1957) and the Zwierzyniec Circle of Friends of All Arts in Cracow (1994). Her stained-glass windows decorate, among others, the United Nations building in New York and the Chapel of the Black Madonna in Częstochowa. She has also been involved in literary work and has authored several books on culture.
