Biography:

Jan Reisner (1655-1713), born in Lviv, painter, architect, geometer and geographer.

He studied painting and architecture in Rome and Paris, where he became a member of the Academy of St. Luke. After his return to Poland, he worked at the court of Jan III Sobieski, creating, among other things, the decoration in Wilanów. He married Cecilia Lauro in 1692. In 1699 he was granted the privilege of royal geometer. He was also involved in the design and construction of churches in Węgrów. He died in 1713 and was buried in the parish church in Węgrów.

Reisner's work is characterised by classicism, harmony and French influences. His most important works are 'Mourning at the Cross', 'Dawn' and a portrait of Primate Michał Stefan Radziejowski.
