Biography:

Jerzy Szymonowicz (c. 1660- c. 1711), born in Lviv, painter. He came from the Szymonowicz family. Thanks to the support of John III Sobieski, he studied painting in Italy and France. In 1682, he became a member of St. Luke's Academy in Rome, also receiving the papal Order of the Golden Spur. He changed his name to Eleuter. On his return to Poland, he worked mainly for Sobieski, creating, among other things, decorations for the Wilanów palace and portraits of the royal family. After the king's death, he worked with Aleksander Sobieski and August II.
