Biography:

Józef Gałęzowski (1877-1963), born in Trojany, son of Julian and Maria, née Strachocka, architect, painter and pedagogue, mainly associated with Krakow.

He studied architecture in Lviv and Dresden, and painting in Munich. He lectured at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts and, from 1913, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, where he also served as rector. He is the author of numerous designs for public buildings, residences, churches, monuments and the sarcophagus of Gabriela Zapolska in the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. Co-author of urban planning concepts for Krakow, including Aleja Trzech Wieszczów.
