Biography:

Józef Lubomirski (1839-1911), born in Niewirków, son of Marceli Lubomirski and Jadwiga Jabłonowska (1819-1894), writer. On 21 March 1877 in Paris, he married Françoise Angélique Boyer Troussel de Saussayes, whose burial is in the Troussel family chapel (div. 86). After her death, on 28 May 1902, he entered into a second marriage with Séverine Rosalie Wilhelmine Anne Konstanze Freiin von Löwenthal, widow of Louis, Duc de Decazes et Glucksbierg, who died childless.

He was the author of many books and articles written in French, some of which are available online at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (BNF). In addition, he was the author of memoirs, the Polish translation of which was published in 1975 under the title 'History of a certain ruin. Memoirs 1839-1870'. In the memoirs, he described his life with a great deal of self-deprecation, presenting both his experiences and the transformations he underwent.

At his estate Les Aygues in Etretat (Normandy), inherited from his wife (actually her first husband), he hosted Queen Isabella II, among others.

He died on 15 April 1911 at the age of 71 at his estate, Villa Howard, in Nice. His death was reported by his wife, Séverine Rosalie Wilhelmine Anne Konstanze Freiin von Löwenthal. His obituary, posted on the Geneanet website, states that he died peacefully at his home. The obituary was signed by, among others, Princess Lubomirska, Joseph's wife, and numerous family members: Princess Zdzisława Lubomirska with her children, Prince Stanislaw Lubomirski, Count de Montebello, Father Eugène Lubomirski with his children and grandchildren, and other relatives.
