A quarter in the municipal cemetery on Jurenka Street of Polish Army soldiers killed in the Polish-Bolshevik war

In the cemetery there is a quarter of Polish soldiers killed in the Polish-Soviet war. It is located near the historical entrance gate to the necropolis. According to documents of 1929, found in the Lithuanian Central State Archive (LCVA), 42 Polish soldiers were buried in the cemetery, but it was not possible to gather their graves in one section due to mixing them with civilian graves, thus the preserved section is not the only one in Braslaw where soldiers from the 1920 battles are buried. In the interwar period of the 20th century it was planned to move the bodies from Buciowce and Zawierz (both in Braslaw municipality) to this cemetery. The cemetery survived the Second World War and Soviet communism. Following an act of vandalism in July 2009, the site was cleaned up by the city's municipal services. On a repainted wooden cross, the local authorities hung a plaque stating that this is a military burial ground, for which there is criminal liability for devastation. At present, the plot consists of 15 nameless concrete graves, arranged in 3 rows of 5 graves each (in the middle row the middle grave does not exist, while the military grave is located in the same row slightly to the left of the main cross). The main cross (tall, wooden, with a metal plaque in Belarusian) is placed to the left of the first row. On the left side of the cross, in 2016, on the initiative of the Consular Department of the Polish Embassy in Minsk, a symbolic commemoration was set up in the form of a concrete tombstone with a granite plaque on which the names of soldiers killed in the 1920 battles in Braslaw are engraved, but it should be emphasised that there is no certainty about their burial in this quarter. The inscription states: "Here rest the soldiers of the Polish Army killed near Braslaw and died of wounds in the field hospital No. 602 in 1919-1920 during the Polish-Bolshevik war / Bugaj Stanislaw sher. 9 pp.leg. 22 I 1920 / Giszewski Czesław szer. szp.pol. 602 29 XII 1919 / Grzelak Józef ser. 5th pp.leg. 17 IX 1919 / Kawański Michał szer. 9 pp.leg. 14 X 1920 / Kołodziej Mieczysław corporal 8th pp.leg. 5 I 1920 / Kozłowski Franciszek szer. On the other side of the cemetery path, closer to the entrance to the cemetery, there are two more soldiers' graves, turned 180 degrees from those in the quarters.
