Biography:

Maria Lemańska (1826-1895), born in Tczów, was the daughter of Benedykt Lemański, owner of Kłobuck and Zagórze (Częstochowa district), and Marianna Przezdziecka. She was the second wife of Piotr Steinkeller, whom she married on 15 September 1835 in Kłobuck. From this marriage she had a son, Henryk Artur, born on 7 April 1847. She was also a patron of the Warsaw Charity Society and belonged to the close acquaintances of Narcyza Żmichowska and Cyprian Kamil Norwid.

After 1854, she left with her son for Paris, where after some time she remarried General Christophe-Marie-Michel Count Rougnet, adjutant to Emperor Napoleon III. After his death, around 11 August 1883 in Paris, she married the Marquis Louis Daniel Adhemar de Sanzillon (1830-1910).

She died on 13 November 1895 at her castle in Mensignac. She bequeathed her estate, which amounted to around 2.5 million francs, to the City of Paris.
