Biography:

Mateusz Butrymowicz (1745-1818), judge of the Pinsk district, deputy of the Pinsk district to the Four-Year Sejm (1788), topographer and military cartographer. He was educated at the Jesuit college. From 1778 he held the post of Pinsk's equerry, and from 1780 of sword-bearer. In 1783 he became a municipal judge in Pinsk, and in 1788 was elected deputy to the Great Sejm. He was a close associate of Hetman Michał Kazimierz Ogiński, who entrusted him with the supervision of the construction of the Ogiński Canal and the Royal Canal, located today in Belarus.
