Biography:

Michał Robert Janocha born in 1959 in Warsaw, Roman Catholic clergyman, Doctor of Humanities in history, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Warsaw since 2015.

Graduated from the Second High School in Warsaw (1978) and completed his studies in art history and philosophy at the Academy of Catholic Theology (1983) and the Higher Metropolitan Seminary (1987). Ordained a priest in 1987, he obtained his doctorate in art sciences (1993) and habilitation in history (2003). From 1992 to 2011 he worked at Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University and since 2010 at the University of Warsaw. In 2015, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Warsaw, and in 2016 he was appointed Chairman of the Council for Culture and the Protection of Cultural Heritage at the Polish Bishops' Conference. His research interests include Byzantine art, the theology of art and comparative studies of Christian Eastern and Western culture.
