Mural commemorating Frédéric Chopin and other polonics in Zagreb

In addition to the traces of Polish-Croatian ties that can be found in Zagreb and which are of a permanent nature, such as the memorials of the mayor or gravestone monuments, we also have several objects of a more ephemeral nature. Among them are:

  1. Mural commemorating Frédéric Chopin, 2020, funder: Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Zagreb, creator was Boris Bare, Croatian street artist, author of numerous murals in Croatia, area 300 m 2 . Boris Bare said of the mural: "Since the location itself is in the charming Dežmanov prolaz passage, I came up with the idea that the background should be striped like old wallpaper and the central part of the mural should be dominated by a framed painting with a silhouette of Chopin containing a piano. The painting is thus a description of his life. In the lower part, I placed plants so that the whole wall gives the impression of a living room, which blends in perfectly with the street itself" (after Polish News Agency).
  2. Mural commemorating Adolf Mošinski (1843-1907), 2022, funder: Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Zagreb, creators: art collective Graffiti na gradele. The mural was located on the primary schools on Warszawska Street.
  3. The Museum of the City of Zagreb preserves a photograph depicting Adolf Hudovski (1828-1900) entrepreneur, councillor and author of the guidebook "Zagreb and Okolica".
  4. The parish of St. Mother of the Church and St. Maximilian Kolbe was erected in the Trnovčic district.
  5. Also associated with the Museum of the City of Zagreb is Emil Laszkowski (1868-1949), who was the first director of this institution.
