Tombstone of the Norblin family

A frame (decomposed), a small cuboidal pedestal at the head, a tall cross on the base supported by horizontal volutes, traces of a fence on the frame. Inscriptions: on the front of the cross base (1), on the front of the pedestal (2), on the left side of the pedestal (3) and on the right side of the pedestal (4).

Adelaïde Schlichting, wife of Louis Pierre Norblin, born in Paris, died on 22 December 1821 at the age of 27 years and 9 months. She lived in the former 3rd arrondissement, 39 rue Montmartre, and was buried on 23 December 1821 in the perpetual concession of the Pièce de la Guerrite (annual no. 806, general no. 84135), then transferred to the Mailleclion (?) crypt on 5 August 1854 (annual no. 3018, general no. 123507). Her final burial took place on 28 June 1865 in the crypt de la Ville, where she was laid to rest beside her husband and Zeide Joséphine Norblin (annual no. 1147, general no. 186308). She was the daughter of Jean Martin Schlichting and Marie Helfenstein (both deceased). She married Louis Pierre Martin Norblin, professor of music, on 13 August 1812 at the parish of Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois in Paris. She was a minor at the time of the marriage and lived in the rue des Fossés. The marriage produced a son, Alphonse Émile Norblin, born on 2 April 1821, whose father, then 39 years old, served as royal musician (AdP AN, Actes reconstitués de l'état civil de Paris). Daughter Adèle Geneviève Norblin married twice - first to Henri Breyer, then to Alphonse Pierre Le Brasseur. In 1859, she was identified as a music teacher resident in Paris (AdP AM, Actes reconstitués de l'état civil de Paris). Adelaïde Schlichting's death was reported by her brother-in-law, the painter Sébastien Louis Wilhelm Norblin, aged 34, resident on Île Saint-Louis, quai Bourbon 41 (AdP, AD Actes de l'état civil reconstitué).

Louis Pierre Martin Norblin, born on 2 December 1781 in Warsaw, was the son of Jean Pierre Norblin de la Gourdaine and his first wife, Marianne Tokarska. He died on 14 July 1854 at the age of 72 at the castle of Connantre (Marne). His body was transported to Paris and buried on 21 July 1854 in the crypt of Marguet (annual no. 2272, general no. 123224). Then, on 28 June 1865, he was transferred to the crypt de la Ville, where he was laid to rest alongside his wife Adelaïde Schlichting and Zeide Joséphine Norblin (annual no. 1146, general no. 186307). He was a student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1799, but eventually devoted himself to music. He served as first cellist of the Paris Opera from 1811 to 1841 and was a professor at the Paris Conservatoire from 1826 to 1846. His family announced his death in a French hourglass: "M. et Mme Émile Norblin et leurs enfants, M. et Mme Breger et leurs enfants, Mme Faivre et sa fille, Mlles Zeide et Blanche Norblin ont la douleur de vous faire part de la perte qu'ils viennent de faire en la personne de M. Louis Pierre Martin Norblin, ancien Professeur du Conservatoire Impérial de Musique, ex-premier Violoncelle de l'Académie Impériale de Musique et de la Société des Concerts, leur Père et Grand-Père, décédé le 14 juillet 1854 à Connantre (Marne) à l'âge de 72 ans. Requiescat in pace." Information of his death was sent on 13 August 1854 to Prince Adam Czartoryski (BXXCz syg. 6982 vol. 2, p. 485). The exact date of the exhumation to grave no. 123631 is missing.

Alphonse Émile Norblin, born on 2 April 1821 in Paris (baptised on 4 April at the church of St Eustatius), was the son of Louis Pierre Martin Norblin and Adélaïde Schlichting. He died on 18 August 1880 at the age of 59 at his residence at 39 rue Saint Georges in Paris. He was a musical artist and the husband of Marie Bauchy. His death was reported by, among others, Édouard Adolphe Norblin, a 26-year-old employee who resided at the same address (AdP, AD Paris 9e no. 1321 of 1880). Zeide Joséphine Norblin, born on 21 August 1814 in Paris (baptised on 25 August in the parish of Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois), was the daughter of Louis Pierre Martin Norblin and Adélaïde Schlichting. She died on 7 February 1856 at the age of 41 at her residence at 33 rue des Martyrs in Paris. She was a pensioner, unmarried. Her death was reported by her brother, Émile Adolphe Norblin, a 34-year-old musician, residing at 52 rue Saint Georges (AdP, AD Actes de l'état civil reconstitué). She was buried on 9 February 1856 (annual no. 1850, gen. no. 139827) and then on 28 June 1865 her remains were transferred to the crypt de la Ville, where she was laid to rest with her parents Adélaïde Schlichting and Louis Pierre Norblin (annual no. 1149, gen. no. 186308). Marie Blanche Henriette Norblin, born on 1 February 1820 in Paris at 39 rue Montmartre, was the daughter of Louis Pierre Martin Norblin, musician of the royal orchestra (musicien de la chapelle Royale), and Adélaïde Schlichting. She died on 3 December 1877 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye at 43, rue Grande-Fontaine. She was an annuitant, unmarried, formerly resident at 10, rue du Vieil Abreuvoir. Buried on 5 December 1877 (annual number 842), her remains were transferred from the Saint-Germain-en-Laye cemetery. Louise Claire Susanne Norblin, born on 9 July 1818 in Paris, baptised on 11 July at the church of St Eustace, daughter of Louis Pierre Martin Norblin and Adélaïde Schlichting. She died on 14 June 1865 at the age of 46 in Paris at 14 rue Demour. She was a musician (artiste musicienne) and the wife of Charles Guillaume Jean Faivre (1804-1886), a pensioner residing in Pleurs (Marne). The couple married on 8 November 1836 in Paris and had a daughter, Martine Emélie Louise Marie Faivre. She was buried on 16 June 1865 in the Mauilluchon crypt (annual no. 604, gen. no. 186046), then exhumed and reburied on 1 July 1865 (annual no. 1304, gen. no. 186364). Jean Pierre Norblin de la Gourdaine, born on 15 July 1745 at Misy-sur-Yonne (Seine-et-Marne), son of Pierre Martin, owner of the dominion of La Gourdaine, and Elisabeth Collet. He died on 23 February 1830 in Paris. From his first marriage, celebrated in 1776 to Marianna Tokarska (d. 1787), he had children: the bronzier Alexander John (1777-1828), Marianna Elisabeth Eve Szacfajer (1778-1855), Constance Anna Cecilia (b. 1780), the cellist Louis Pierre Martin (1781-1854), Teresa (b. 1784), Helena (b. 1786) and François Louis (b. and d. 1787). From his second marriage was born the painter Sébastien Louis Guillaume. His grandson, was Wincenty Norblin (1805-1872), founder of the Polish line of the family, from which descended, among others, Stefan Norblin, Polish poster artist and great-grandson of the artist. According to NKW vol. 1 no. 1172, Jean Pierre Norblin was an artist and teacher of drawing, brought to Poland by Adam Czartoryski, general of the Podolia lands. He was the father of the owner of a brassware factory in Warsaw and the first bass player at the Paris Opera. He left many works of exceptional artistic value in Poland. He died in February or March 1830 in Paris, aged 85. He was buried on 1-6 November 1861 in the Damin crypt annual no. 2588, gen. no. 161203, AMP MD, div. 34, no. 163 d. 22 February 1830 J. P. Norblin, pierre debout grille, 2x1, no. 36681, conc. 218 dated 23 February 1830, executed by Vve Norblin b.im. zam. Quai Bourbon 41 (Ile St Louis). Perpetual.

Marie Madeleine Anna Kopsch, second wife of Jean Pierre Norblin, married 5 May 1794. b. c. 1770, Warsaw, daughter of François Kopsch and Madeleine N. She died on 9 August 1861 in Paris (4th arrondissement), aged 91, at her residence at quai d'Anjou 31. Her death was reported by her son Sébastien Louis Guillaume Norblin, aged 65, history painter (peintre d'histoire), Chevalier of the Legion of Honour, residing at the same address (AdP AD Paris 4e No. 2479, 1861). From her marriage to Jean Pierre Norblin were born: Thaddeus (died 1795 in Warsaw as an infant) and Sébastien Louis Guillaume Norblin. Buried on 6 November 1861 in the Damian crypt, annual no. 2589, gen. no. 161204.
