John Paul II Park in Curitiba

In the park named after John Paul II in Curitiba, traditional Polish wooden houses dating from around 1878 have been preserved. They are a reminder of the large Polish community that arrived in Brazil in the mid-19th century. The park also features monuments to John Paul II and Nicolaus Copernicus. The Polish Pope visited the site in June 1980.
