Biography:

Paweł Giżycki (1692-1762), architect, painter, decorator and Jesuit, came from a noble family of the coat of arms of Gozdawa. He entered the Jesuit order on 16 August 1710 in Kraków. After completing his novitiate in 1712, he taught at Jesuit schools and studied philosophy in Lublin (1713-1716) and theology in Sandomierz and Kraków (1720-1723). In his later years he worked as a missionary, gaining increasing fame as an architect, although his knowledge of the subject probably owed to his private studies and talent. Around 1730 he was called to Krzemieniec, where he took charge of the construction of the college and spent the rest of his life there.
