In the recently opened Musée de la Libération de Paris, on avenue du Colonel-Henri-Rol-Tanguy at number 4, there is a VIS wz. 35 / P35 pistol of 9 mm calibre manufactured by the Weapons Factory in Radom. Learn more about the history of this inconspicuous polonium.

Designed for the Polish military, the revolver required exceptional accuracy. The short 9mm recoil, 4 5/8" movable barrel with interlocked breech allowed for a quick follow-up shot. Produced between 1936 and 1939, the pistol was on the equipment of officers and non-commissioned officers of the Polish Army.

Housed in the collection of the Musée de la Libération de Paris, the pistol probably fell into the hands of a German soldier occupying Paris during World War II against his will. During the liberation of the city in August 1944, the weapon was seized by French partisans and handed over to the French uprising commander, an officer of the International Brigades and a leading activist in the French Resistance, Georges René Henri Tanguy, alias Rol. The gun was donated to the museum by his wife, Cécile Rol-Tanguy.
