The bronze, Polish copper statue was made in Gliwice to a design by is Lu Pin to commemorate and promote Chopin's work in China. Its presence underlines the international significance of the work of the musician, who is one of the most revered composers in the world and whose music is extremely popular especially in the Far East. The Chinese love Chopin and often participate in the International Piano Competition, which further strengthens cultural ties between Poland and China. The monument is an important symbol of the long-standing cooperation and friendship between the two countries, as well as an element of cultural education, allowing Shanghai residents and tourists to learn more about Polish culture and music. This is the second monument in Shanghai dedicated to a foreigner, which demonstrates its unique significance. The plaque on the monument is written only in Polish and Chinese, further emphasising its international character and importance in the context of Polish-Chinese relations.
