Information about the object:
The church in Tadanyany is one of the most important Polish monuments in the Lviv region, where the relics of St. Jacob Strzemię, the patron saint of Lviv, were discovered. It was founded by Mikolaj Józef Koc, an Ensign of Belorussia, in 1734. The interior of the church is decorated with paintings from 1838. In the Soviet period it was used as a kolkhoz warehouse and a flax mill. The church was returned to the faithful in 1992.

The building consists of a low vestibule, a square nave and a narrower, five-sided chancel with a sacristy. The church is one of the best-preserved Roman Catholic wooden buildings in the Lviv region. The wooden building stands on a brick foundation made on a concrete footing. The foundation was largely restored during a recent renovation. The foundation and foundation beams are protected by a drip cap. The destructive effect of microorganisms (fungi, insects) was evident on elements exposed to direct rainwater (algae grew).

2020 (phase III)
As part of the task, specialised expert analyses were carried out and their results were compiled in the form of design documentation for the renovation of the historic roof truss and the repair of the roof of the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Tekla in Tadany.

A design was made for a new electrical, fire alarm, lighting and lightning protection system. In addition, leaks in the roof were repaired and ad hoc repairs were made to the roof trusses. This allowed the roof to be temporarily protected against deterioration.

2021 (Phase IV)
The church in Tadany has been under the care of conservators for several years now. The work carried out to date has resulted in a significant reduction in the dampness of the building (this is confirmed by the results of moisture measurements and organoleptic observations). The work was carried out using previously developed documentation and knowledge of the object that had been accumulated over a long period of time.

The restoration of the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Trinity will continue in 2021. In 2021, as part of the continuation of the restoration of the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Tekla in Tadany, Ukraine, the shingles in the gables of the church and the porch were repaired, as well as the truss and ceiling of the porch, and new sheathing and roofing was made for the porch. The cross crowning the porch gable was dismantled, restored and reinstalled, and other elements of the porch underwent repair and maintenance work.

Key to achieving this effect was the restoration of the wooden eaves draining rainwater. An inventory and expert assessment of the state of preservation of the trees surrounding the building made it possible to carry out the necessary maintenance cuts. Continued work on securing the building and repairing its structure will allow further improvement in the condition of the monument and the commencement of conservation work on the interior of the building in a few years' time.

2023 (Phase VI)
The project is a continuation of the restoration of the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Tekla in Tadany, Ukraine. This year's scope of work includes: repairing the foundation, conserving and replacing corroded foundations, replacing the worn-out electrical installation, laying a wooden floor in the porch, and restoring the entrance staircase. Maintenance work on the surrounding historic tree stock will also continue.

Due to the significant degree of corrosion of the wooden foundations, it is planned to replace the most deteriorated parts of them with new oak beams with a section identical to the original. The priority is to preserve the maximum number of historic wooden elements (or parts thereof). In order to replace the foundations, the church will be protected and then raised. The foundation beams will be dismantled and subjected to a thorough visual inspection. The brick foundation will then be demolished, the foundations repaired, and a stone foundation laid.

Due to the poor phytosanitary condition, it is necessary to cut down two trees from the group surrounding the church. At the same time, replacement plantings will be made. The maintenance work will benefit the trees themselves, but the primary aim is to ensure the safety of the church building, which has been damaged in the past by falling branches and windbreaks.
