Biography:

Roman Horoszkiewicz (1892-1962), son of Tadeusz and Helena née Dobek-Zaręb, soldier, Silesian insurgent, cultural activist. He studied at the Jagiellonian University between 1910 and 1925, took part in the Silesian Uprising, and served in the 1st Infantry Regiment and 1st Cavalry Regiment of the Polish Legions. Between 1923 and 1925 he continued his education at the University of Lviv, while working at the Dzieduszycki Museum. He was the founder of the Pinsk Land Museum. He fought in the September campaign. After the end of the Second World War, in 1946, he became involved in social activities, organising Polish cultural and scientific life in Opole.
