Biography:

Stefan Samojłowicz Kryczyński (1874-1923), born in Kaskiewiczy, son of Samuel Kryczyński and Zuzanna Talkowska, Polish-Russian architect. In 1897, he graduated from the Nicholas I Institute of Civil Engineers in St Petersburg. In 1899, he took up the post of chief architect at the Board of Untaxed Influence, and from 1900 he worked in the department of the Russian border guards. In 1907, he designed a theatre in Tbilisi. In 1917, he was appointed chairman of the Technical Committee of the Ministry of National Education. From 1918 to 1920, he served as professor of architecture at the Kuban Polytechnic Institute, and from 1921, he taught at his alma mater in St Petersburg.
