Plaque commemorating Polish mathematicians and officers in Uzès, France. The plaque is located on the wall in front of the Fouzes castle. There, in 1940, a team of 15 Polish mathematicians of the French and Spanish resistance worked to decipher Nazi messages. The commemorative plaque bears the following inscription: "Here, from October 1, 1940 to November 6, 1942, Polish mathematicians and officers secretly decrypted thousands of German radio messages encoded with the enigma machine for the benefit of the Allies and with the help of the French and Spanish resistance."
