Biography:

Tadeusz Markiewicz (b. 1936), in Jeziorko near Kielce, sculptor, painter and graphic artist. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Kielce, at the Pedagogical College in Łódź and at the Department of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under Prof. Franciszek Strynkiewicz, where he graduated with honours in 1965.

A member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers, he actively participates in artistic life, winning recognition at national and international exhibitions, including those in Paris, Venice and Budapest. His works can be found in Polish museums and foreign collections in Paris, Lausanne, New York, Madrid and the Vatican.

He is the creator of the prestigious Golden Duck Award, awarded for outstanding achievements in Polish cinematography. In 2003, he personally presented Pope John Paul II with his gilded sculpture "Angels over the Pyramid" on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his pontificate.

He is the author of numerous monuments, including those to Jan Kiepura (Sosnowiec, Krynica), Armia Krajowa (Sopot), Polish Mother (Łódź), soldiers killed at Lenino (Warsaw) and Antoni Słonimski. He currently lives and works in Warsaw.
