Biography:

Tadeusz Mazowiecki (1927-2013), Polish politician. The last prime minister of the People's Republic of Poland and the first of the Third Republic (1989-1991). His government introduced a series of changes after 1989 (including a change of political system, emblem and constitution). Between 2010 and 2013, he was a full-time advisor on domestic and international policy to President Bronisław Komorowski. Also a writer and publicist, his writings include Crossroads and Values (1970), Tadeusz Mazowiecki's Reports from the Former Yugoslavia (1993), 1989 and Beyond. Selected and New Texts (2012). In 1995 he was awarded the Order of the White Eagle.
