Commemoration of the Polish women imprisoned in the labour camp ALZIR in Akmol

In Akmol, located near Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, a monument has been placed in memory of Polish women who were imprisoned in the labour camp LAZIR (Russian: Акмолинский лагерь жён изменников Родины - Akmolinsk Lager of Wives of Traitors to the Motherland) in 1937-1953. The monument was funded by the Polish Embassy in Astana in 2010. The stone slab, is decorated with an inscription engraved in two languages (Russian and Polish).
